Who doesn't love their Grandad? Grandads, if yours is anything like mine, do so much for the family and are such inspirations. So when it comes to a big occasion, Christmas is the perfect time to show your Grandad just how much you love him. After all, this guy deserves the best.

Of course, the apple of any Grandfather's eye are his grandkids, so the most meaningful Christmas gifts for Grandads are bound to come from them.

My Grandad Definitely Doesn't Suffer With Technophobia

My Grandad, or "Grandad Jim" as I call him, is something of a legend. Born and bred in Sunderland, his Geordie accent just adds even more to his atypical, amusing character! He's perhaps one of the grooviest Grandads on the planet.

Not long ago, Grandad taught himself Spanish. He's a bit of a jet-setter as well. He and Gran are constantly swanning off around Europe. If Grandad had it his way, he'd move abroad and spend the rest of his days in sunny Spain, just him and Gran.

He also completed an Advanced Driving test at the ripe old age of 76. But most impressively, he taught me how to drive, no fees involved. And, thanks to him, I passed first time.

When I studied at university, I'd come back in the holidays and have lessons with him. It was, however, slightly odd and I became a little afraid of him. I'd constantly dream of him hollering "Mirror! Signal! Manoeuvre!"

I'm forever grateful to Grandad for getting me through what is perhaps one of the worst tests in the world. Of course, Grandad's more to me than merely a Driving Instructor. I could sit for hours listening to his stories.

He's like a cassette tape. Press play, and he'll go on until you say "stop" about his schoolboy days... his time in the police force as an Inspector... when he delivered a newborn baby and became dubbed "Sunderland's Saint"... when he survived on mouldy potatoes in Auschwitz... how he wooed my Gran... The list goes on.

He's also a virtual Encyclopaedia. Ask him anything, and he knows the answer. He's also a whiz when it comes to technology. Recently, he bought himself a high-tech video camera, and, at any given opportunity, he's filming away. And he isn't shy of the internet or mobile phones, either.

Personalised Christmas presents for Grandads

So what should I get my Grandad for Christmas? Bearing in mind he's got just about everything under the sun anyway, from gadgets to cookery books, I haven't got an easy task ahead of me.

For his 80th Birthday, I bought him a personalised football book, all about his favourite footie team - Sunderland. He was oh-so touched. Basically, it was a book containing newspaper reports on the history of Sunderland football team over the last century. The front cover had his name embossed in gold and on the inside cover was my own special message. And he still reads it.

That leads me on to personalised Christmas presents for Grandads. Affordable and thoughtful, kids can even purchase them with their own pocket money - fab! So let's take a look at what's up for grabs for Gramps...

If your Grandad enjoys a tipple or two, then engraved wine and spirit gift sets are a sure-fire way to bring a smile to his face. These super-dooper Grandad Christmas gifts are presented in a silk-lined gift box and include his favourite tipple - be it wine, Champagne, whisky, or what have you - along with two plush-looking glasses, beautifully etched with his name or a special message. Perfectimo.

If your Grandad's a bookworm, personalised Classics make uber unusual pressies. Your Grandad stars as the main character in the story! You can get things like engraved silver pen and box sets, historical maps of his area, personalised coir doormats and much, much more.
